"Lay it on the line"

"야, 그냥 까놓고 말해~"라는 표현을 영어로는 "Lay it on the line"이라고 합니다. "Lay it 그것을 두어라", "on the line 선에". 선은 눈에 보이죠? "보이는 선에 두어라"는 말은 "까놓고 이야기해 봐라" 이런 의미가 되는 것이죠.
