3 teenagers found dead, 7 unconscious

Three high school students died and seven were found unconscious at a holiday home in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, Tuesday. Two of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.
화요일 강원도 강릉시의 한 펜션에서 고교생 3명이 숨지고 7명이 의식을 잃은 채 발견됐다. 부상자 중 2명은 위독한 것으로 전해졌다.
According to police and rescue workers, the owner of the accommodation facility found the boys collapsed in the room and reported it to the emergency authorities at 1:14 p.m.
경찰과 구조대에 따르면, 오후 1시 14분 펜션 주인이 방안에서 쓰러져있는 아이들을 발견하고 119에 신고했다.
The unconscious students were found frothing at the mouth and vomiting, while the three deceased also appeared to have suffered the same symptoms.
의식이 없는 학생들은 입에 거품을 물고 구토를 한 채로 발견되었으며, 사망한 3명의 학생들도 같은 증상을 겪은 것으로 나타났다.
The students were sent to three different hospitals, and the two of them who are in critical condition are receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
학생들은 3개의 다른 병원으로 보내졌고, 그들 중 위독한 상태에 있는 두 학생은 고압산소치료를 받고 있다.
They were seniors at Daesung High School in Seoul who took the college entrance exam last month, and then went to stay at the vacation home with their parents' permission. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education(SMOE) confirmed it was not an official trip and the students traveled on their own after getting permission from their school. No teachers or parents accompanied them.
이들은 지난달 수능시험을 치른 서울 대성고 3학년생이었고, 부모의 허락을 받아 펜션에 놀러 왔다. 서울시교육청은 이 여행이 공식적인 학교 여행이 아니며 학생들은 학교로부터 허가를 받은 후에 스스로 여행했다는 것을 확인했다. 학생들은 선생님이나 부모와 동행하지 않았다.
The authorities suspect the deaths and injuries resulted from gas exposure.
당국은 가스 누출로 인해 사망자와 부상자가 발생한 것을 의심하고 있다.
“We detected a high level of carbon monoxide at the scene registering 115 parts per million (ppm), while the normal level is around 20 ppm,” an official at the Gangneung Fire Station said. “We suspect it was neither suicide nor murder, just an accident.”
강릉소방서의 한 관계자는 “정상수위는 20ppm 정도이나 사고 현장의 일산화탄소 수치는 115ppm으로 높았다”며 “우리는 자살이나 살인이 아닌 단지 사고였다고 생각한다”고 덧붙였다.
The authorities are investigating the exact cause of the incident, checking whether gas boiler pipes were installed properly.
당국은 정확한 사고 원인을 조사하여 가스보일러 파이프가 제대로 설치되었는지를 확인하고 있다.
