(G)I-DLE's Soyeon apologizes for plagiarism

Soyeon of K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE apologized Monday for plagiarizing some parts of boy band ATEEZ's 2019 release, "Wave," to compose her song, "Sun."
K팝 걸그룹 (여자)아이들의 소연이 월요일 남자아이돌 에이티즈의 2019년 팔매된 ‘웨이브’의 일부분을 표절해 자신의 노래 ‘썬’을 작곡했다며 사과했다.
Her apology came one day after she unveiled her self-written track, "Sun," on MBC's audition program, "My Teenage Girl."
소연의 사과는 MBC 오디션 프로그램 ‘방과후설렘’에서 자작곡 ‘썬’이 공개되고 하루 뒤에 이어졌다.
In its last episode that aired Sunday, Soyeon, who appeared as a mentor for female singer hopefuls, gifted "Sun" for them to perform in the finale.
일요일 방송된 가장 최근 에피소드에서 여자 아이돌 지망생들의 멘토로 출연하는 소연은 이들이 파이널에서 공연할 수 있도록 ‘썬’을 선물했다.
Some viewers, however, pointed out that the tune sounds similar to ATEEZ's "Wave," which was written by producer Eden-ary.
하지만 일부 시청자들은 선율이 프로듀서 이든어리에 의해 쓰여진 에이티즈의 ‘웨이브’와 유사하다고 지적했다.
"I want to apologize for sparking controversy," Soyeon wrote on her fan community, admitting her fault.
소연은 자신의 팬 커뮤니티에 잘못을 시인하며 “물의를 일으킨 점에 대해 사과드리고 싶다”고 적었다.
"I belatedly realized that some melodies in 'Sun' sound similar (to those of 'Wave.') So I informed the composer of 'Wave' about the situation and made an apology. In the future, I will take extra care."
“뒤늦게 ‘썬’ 일부 멜로디의 (‘웨이브’와의) 유사성에 대해 인지하였고 따라서 해당 작곡가에게 상황에 대해 전달하고 사과의 말을 전했다. 앞으로는 더욱 주의하겠다.”
When "Sun" was first unveiled on Sunday, Soyeon and producer Pop Time were identified as its only composers. But after some online users accused Soyeon of plagiarism, the name of Eden-ary was suddenly added to the credits.
일요일에 ‘태양’이 처음 공개되었을 때 소연과 프로듀서 팝타임은 유일한 작곡가로 표기되었다. 하지만 일부 온라인 유저들이 소연이 표절을 했다고 지적하자 이든어리의 이름이 갑자기 크레딧에 추가되었다.
But Eden-ary's agency, KQ Entertainment, insisted that neither the producer nor the company agreed on this.
하지만 이든어리의 소속사 KQ 엔터테인먼트는 프로듀서도 회사도 이에 동의하지 않았다고 주장했다.
"The incident took place without any prior discussion," KQ said in a statement. "We hope the incorrect information gets fixed as soon as possible."
“이 사건은 어떠한 사전 논의 없이 발생했다”고 KQ측은 전했다. “속히 잘못된 정보가 바로 잡히길 바란다.”
