21.7%: 'Crash Landing on You' sets record for tvN drama

Rom-com "Crash Landing on You" has become the most sought-after drama on cable channel tvN.
로맨틱코미디 드라마 '사랑의 불시착'이 케이블 채널 tvN에서 가장 인기있는 드라마가 되었다.
The last episode on Sunday garnered 21.7 percent viewership rating, according to Nielson Korea's data ― a record for tvN dramas since the channel's launch in 2006.
닐슨코리아의 자료에 따르면 지난 일요일 방영된 마지막 회는 21.7%의 시청률을 기록했다. 이는 2006년 tvN의 창립 이후 가장 높은 기록이다.
The soap opera, starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, dethroned 2016 hit series "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," which rated 20.5 percent.
현빈과 손예진 주연의 이 드라마는 2016년 히트작 '도깨비'의 시청률 20.5%를 넘어섰다.
"Crash Landing on You" is a 16-episode love story of South Korean chaebol scion Yoon Se-ri (played by Son) and high-ranking North Korean officer Ri Jong-hyok (Hyun Bin). The two bump into each other in North Korea after a paraglider carrying Yoon makes an emergency landing.
'사랑의 불시착'은 대한민국의 재벌가 상속녀 윤세리(손예진)와 북한 고위 장교 이종혁(현빈)의 16부작 러브스토리다. 두 사람은 윤씨를 태운 패러글라이더가 북한에 비상착륙을 한 뒤 마주친다.
Although producer Lee Jung-hyo explained that the most settings in his North Korea-themed work were closer to a fantasy than reality, many still blasted its favorable depiction of the reclusive state. In January, the conservative Christian Liberty Party even filed a complaint with police against tvN, claiming that "Crash Landing on You" portrayed North Korean soldiers only in a "peaceful" way.
이정효 PD는 북한을 테마로한 이 작품 속 배경이 현실보다는 판타지에 가깝다고 설명했지만 여전히 많은 이들이 북한을 호의적으로 묘사한 것에 대해 맹비난했다. 지난 1월 보수 성향의 기독자유당은 드라마 '사랑의 불시착'이 북한 군인들을 '평화적'으로 묘사했다며 tvN을 경찰에 고소하기도 했다.
"Crash Landing on You" will be replaced by the fantasy series "Hi Bye, Mama!" featuring actress Kim Tae-hee. The soap opera will premiere on Feb. 22.
드라마 '사랑의 불시착'은 배우 김태희가 출연하는 판타지물 '하이바이마마'로 대체된다. 이 드라마는 2월 22일에 첫 방송된다.
