Longtime editor of Vanity Fair Graydon Carter broke his silence over what would have been the magazine's report on “epic takedown” of the star, Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
Carter revealed how Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow, 41, issued a “Kim Jong-un-style” demand to friends to ban them from talking to the magazine.
“It was action worthy of the North Korean despot. Kim Jong-un couldn’t have issued a more blanket demand,” he said.
She asked that her friends, family, and representatives not speak to Vanity Fair about her, or about anything else ever again. Ever. Never.
The stories would have been typical Hollywood gossip over the state of her marriage to Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin.
Speaking for the March issue of Vanity Fair, he figured Paltrow’s story would be a good sell after noticing “that people tend to have passionate opinions on the actress.”
The specifics as to what Paltrow wrote in the now-infamous emails to her show-business pals are not known, but to be published in the March issue.
On a side note, he wrote, “In October, Gwyneth called me. We talked for about 20 minutes about the story and her reaction, or over-reaction, to it.
“At one point, she asked my advice as to what to do to get the ‘haters’ on her side. I suggested putting on 15 pounds. I joked that it works for me. She replied I had put on much more than that. Which I thought was fair and funny.”
