New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will pay tribute Thursday at a memorial monument erected in honor of his countries' troops who fought in the 1950-53 Korean War, the veterans ministry said.

Luxon, who is visiting Korea to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, will visit the U.N. Memorial Cemetery in the southeastern port city of Busan later in the day, according to the ministry.

He will be accompanied by his wife as well as Vice Defense Minister Kang Yun-jin.

New Zealand deployed 3,794 service members to the three-year Korean War, of whom 45 were killed and one went missing. A total of 32 fallen soldiers are laid to rest at the U.N. cemetery in Busan.
