Park holds phone conversation with Canadian PM on N. Korean nukes

President Park Geun-hye held a phone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday, and shared views on expanding cooperation to better tackle Pyongyang's nuclear provocations, her office said.

During the 20-minute conversation, Park and Trudeau exchanged information on North Korea's latest nuclear test, while finding ways to bolster Seoul-Ottawa ties.

The presidential office said the call was arranged upon request from Canada. The North American country has been implementing sanctions against North Korea since August 2011.

Last week, Pyongyang conducted its fifth nuclear test despite the international community's call for denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. In January, North Korea conducted a fourth nuclear test after its previous tests in 2006, 2009 and 2013. (Yonhap)
