Exhibition to hightlight liberation anniversary

A Seoul Museum of Art exhibition will commemorate the 70th anniversary of Korea’s independence from Japan.

The “NK Project” starts Tuesday and runs to September 29. It is designed to show Korea’s “historical and nationalistic tasks of independence, division and unification,” with North Korea as its artistic keyword, according to the museum.

The show has three parts — a presentation of North Korea’s visual culture, the country’s scenery and people through foreign artists’ eyes, and a video installation by South Korean artists depicting the North.

Foreign photographers, including Nick Danzier from the United Kingdom and Eddo Hartman from the Netherlands, will present their work since 2010. Participating local artists include Kang Ik-joong, Park Chan-kyung and Lee Yong-beck.
