Actor couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin will donate 300 million won ($204,000) to Asan Medical Center and Samsung Medical Center, delivering their wishes to help treating patients, Hyun's agency, VAST Entertainment, said Monday.
The two hospitals' pediatric departments as well as obstetrics and gynecology departments will receive 150 million won each.
In their joint statement, the celebrity couple expressed their deep gratitude for the opportunity to help others and their desire to share their hearts, even if just a little.
"We hope our warmth reaches to someone who is going through a tough time at this very moment," the couple said.
The couple added that they feel an inexplicable sense of guilt whenever they see their child growing up healthy, thinking of other children who are not as fortunate.
"We sincerely hope that sick children can recover their pure and cheerful smiles as they grow up healthy to light up the world," they said.
The donation to Asan Medical Center will be spent on treating patients in difficult conditions, while money donated to Samsung Medical Center will be used for the hospital's development fund to support its pediatric, obstetrics and gynecology departments.
Hyun and Son married in March 2022 and welcomed their first son in November the same year. They co-starred in the 2018 film "The Negotiation" and the tvN drama "Crash Landing on You" from 2019 to 2020.
