Disney+ unveils upcoming star-studded series plus new BTS documentary

Disney+ shared the lineup of its upcoming Korean originals for the second half of this year, including the star-studded action series “Moving” and K-pop juggernaut BTS' music documentary, “BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star.”

“As audiences around the world continue to be drawn to stories from Korea, we believe our curated selection of originals in the second half of the year will captivate viewers at home and abroad,” Kim So-youn, managing director of The Walt Disney Company Korea, said in a press release, Monday.
“We look forward to working with Korea's creative community and leading production houses to spotlight storytelling excellence from Korea on Disney+.”
Based on the popular webcomics of the same name by Kang Full, “Moving,” starring Zo In-sung, Han Hyo-joo, and Ryu Seung-ryong, follows a group of teenagers with supernatural powers. Along with their parents, who have been keeping a painful secret, they fight against dark forces and a mysterious assassin.
The series, set to debut on Aug. 9, is led by director Park In-je, who helmed the second season of Netflix's hit series “Kingdom.”
The streaming platform will also roll out three more action series ― “The Worst of Evil,” “Vigilante,” and “Han River Police.”
Set in the 1990s in Seoul, “The Worst of Evil” revolves around a police officer named Park Joon-mo (Ji Chang-wook) who goes undercover to bring down the source of a new drug that has been circulating around the city's nightclubs. Wi Ha-jun will play the role of the new boss of the gang behind the drug.
This will be a series debut for filmmaker Han Dong-wook, whose previous work includes the romance film, "Man in Love."

The crime action series “Vigilante,” based on the webcomics of the same name, is about a police academy student named Jiyong (Nam Joo-huk), who is a burgeoning martial arts master and a bookish academic. He is a model student during the day, but acts as a vigilante who takes justice into his own hands to punish criminals that got away with their crimes.
The series is led by filmmaker Choi Jung-yeol, who directed the 2019 comedy action film “Start-Up.”
Directed by Kim Sang-chul, the upcoming comedy action series, “Han River Police,” centers around a precinct covering the river. Patrolling the waterways along the river, the police officers at the precinct ― played by Kwon Sang-woo, and Kim Hee-won ― deal with crimes and emergency situations, including terrorist incidents.
BTS' new documentary, “BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star,” is also slated to premiere in the latter half of this year.
The upcoming music docuseries, part of Disney's collaboration with the artists' agency HYBE, will chart the journey of 21st-century pop icon BTS. It will offer unprecedented access to the group's music and footage over the past nine years of its career, as well as the artists' daily lives, thoughts, and plans to prepare for their second chapter.
Disney+ will also release the second season of the subtle romance series, “Soundtrack #1.” The upcoming romance series “Soundtrack #2” will pick up on the separate love story between two college sweethearts ― played by Keum Sae-rok and Noh Sang-hyun. Four years after they broke up, the two meet again, reigniting their six-year relationship.
Director Kim Hee-won, who led the first season, has reprised his role to helm the second one.
