Kim Seon-ho to star in tvN's new drama 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha'

Actor Kim Seon-ho, who rose to stardom after building up a career on stage, will be starring in tvN's upcoming weekend drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” which features a polar opposite romance between a city girl and a country boy in the seaside village of Gongjin.
Kim Seon-ho is to play Hong Doo-shik, a jack-of-all-trades odd-job expert and a village manager. In a poster for the show, Hong displays a list of licenses and certificates he attained from various fields. The poster reads “voluntarily unemployed all-rounder, town hero.”
Also starring in the drama is actress Shin Min-a, who plays Yoon Hye-jin, a beautiful dentist who moves from Seoul. Yi Sang-yi will play the role of Ji Sung-hyun, a television program producer.
The series is a remake of the 2004 film “Mr. Hong.” Hong was a nationally beloved character played by actor Kim Joo-hyuk, who passed away in 2017 in a car accident. Thus the news of the TV adaptation and casting of Kim Seon-ho as Mr. Hong sparked excitement among drama fans.
In this highly anticipated remake, Yoo Je-won, who is known for directing “Oh My Ghostess” and “Tomorrow With You,” teamed up with Shin Ha-eun, the co-screenwriter of “The Crowned Clown.”
Kim counted the beautiful scenery of the seaside town and its lovely villagers among the charms of the drama.
Kim's response penetrates the main theme of the upcoming series. Shin, who wrote the screenplay, says that viewers will be provided with a place of comfort and remedy as the tie grows stronger between the polar opposite characters.
“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” premieres on Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. on tvN. International fans can stream it on Netflix and TVING.
