Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi was discharged from his mandatory military service at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lee, 31, held a special event for 400 fans in the military camp at Jeongpyeong-gun, North Chungcheong Province.

“Thank you for coming so early in the morning and preparing placards,” he said. “I am worried my fans will catch a cold. There are fans that came from abroad, thank you so much.”

“Even as I am receiving my discharge notice and my soldier badge, it does not feel real. I think once I return home it will sink in.

“I could safely complete my military duty thanks to your love and support for a year and nine months.”

He said his time in the military was “one of my best moments” and that he would “work really hard, now that I am back.”

“Marital Harmony,” a movie in which Lee starred before enlisting, is set to be released soon. He is also in talks to star in a fantasy drama “Hwayugi” on tvN.

Lee debuted as a singer in 2004 and has appeared in various TV dramas, films and TV entertainment shows, including "One Night, Two Days" on KBS.
