Actor Kim Hyun-joong will still meet his fans in April after being caught driving while drunk last Sunday.
Kim was caught while preparing for the fan-meeting concert at Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on Apr. 29.
Contrary to public expectations that the actor, 30, would not be able to return to the screen because of the incident, Kim chose to honor his promise to thousands of fans.
“There is no change in the original plan for the concert,” his agency KeyEast Entertainment said, apologizing for the incident.
The agency added, “He hadn’t slept for days because he was practicing for his concert.
“Even though he hadn’t driven more than a kilometer, the police officer asked Kim to take a blood alcohol test and suspended his driver’s license.”
Although many young actors return to the screen when they finish their mandatory military service, it was unclear whether Kim would do this after he finished his service on Feb. 11 because of other issues.
His ex-girlfriend, surnamed Choi, sued him in 2014, claiming she had a miscarriage [of their son] after the actor had assaulted her.
She lost the case and in 2016 she was ordered to pay Kim with 100 million won ($ 89,400) compensation.
Kim countersued Choi for fabricating evidence and for fraud. The trial is ongoing.
