Park Yu-chun to appear before police for sexual assault allegations
Park Yu-chun, the troubled member of popular K-pop boy band JYJ, will appear before police on Thursday to undergo questioning over sexual assault allegations, Seoul investigators said.
The 30-year-old singer-actor, who is currently serving his military duty as a public agent, is set to appear at Gangnam Police Station in southern Seoul at around 6:30 p.m., according to police officials.
Park has been mired in a scandal as four different women lodged complaints against him this month, claiming they were raped by him. One of the cases dates back to 2014, while the latest allegedly occurred this month.
The woman, who filed the first complaint on June 10, has dropped the case, saying that "there was no coercion." But Park made a counterclaim last week that she falsely accused him of sexual assault.
Police have formed a team of 12 investigators to handle Park's case as it has drawn keen public attention. The negative publicity has dealt a serious blow to his signature clean-cut image. (Yonhap)
