Behind the scenes of 'Resident Evil'

Actor Lee Joon-gi made headlines last October when he began to film the latest installment of the Hollywood movie franchise “Resident Evil.”
And recently, Lee, 33, told style magazine “Allure” for the first time how he came to star in the movie.
“Director Paul W. S. Anderson, who didn’t know Korean, muted video footage of me acting and analyzed my faces and emotions before deciding to hire me,” said Song, who is filming “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.”
“He said he didn’t pick me only because of my reputation outside Korea as a hallyu (Korean wave) actor. That moved me.”

Lee is well known in Japan and China for his roles in Korean movies and TV dramas. This led to him starring in the Korea-Japan film “Virgin Snow” (2007) with Japanese actress Aoi Miyazaki. In the same year, he received the Rising Star Award at the 27th Hawaii International Film Festival.
“The female lead Milla Jovovich inspired me the most with her stunt acting,” he said. “I love stunts, too. When filming, we tried to synchronize our stunt action scenes as well as possible, and she accepted many of my suggestions.
Lee had risen to stardom in the historical drama movie “King and the Clown” (2005), in which he played a male street clown, Gong-gil, whose beauty even fascinated King Yeonsan of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” is scheduled to open next January.
