EXO's Xiumin injured in idol sports event

Singer Xiumin from K-pop boy band EXO has been injured in a sports event for idol stars.

He was hurt in the “12th Idol Star Athletics Championship” in Goyang Gymnasium, Gyeonggi Province, Tuesday. The event was being filmed for TV airing during the Lunar New Year holiday in February.

Mixed martial artist Kim Dong-hyun tackled Xiumin during a futsal match, Herald Pop said. Fans who visited the gymnasium said the singer could not get up after the tackle. Staff lifted him from the court and he was taken to hospital. The injury is reportedly minor.

The championship, hosted by TV network MBC during the Lunar New Year holiday and Chuseok holiday in September, has been criticized by fans for injuring stars.

The championship continues until Wednesday.
