Starting today, it will be easier for overseas’ scholars to search and collect information on Korean writers and researchers.
The National Library of Korea last year agreed to provide the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), a nonprofit, worldwide, computer library service and research organization, with data on some 22,000 Korean authors for inclusion in its Virtual International Authority File (VIAF), an international service designed to provide convenient access to the world’s major name authority files.
Each author will be given his or her own International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI). The information is now available to 39 organizations across 35 countries.
Other libraries that have signed agreements with the OCLC include the U.S. Library of Congress, the German National Library, the National Library of France and the National Library of Sweden, among others.
‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ draws 1 million viewers in 3 days
“Kung Fu Panda 3” has drawn more than 1 million viewers in three days, its distributor CJ Entertainment said Sunday.
The animated film, which shot to the top of the box office rankings upon its release Thursday, reached the milestone a day faster than the 2013 animation film “Frozen,” the previous record holder. “Kung Fu Panda 3” attracted more than 560,000 viewers on Saturday alone.
“Kung Fu Panda 3” is about Po, a kung fu master, teaching the martial art to a village of pandas trying to fight off an evil ancient spirit called Kai, which is terrorizing China.
The first of the series attracted 4.67 million viewers in 2008 and its second drew 50.6 million in 2011.
Actor Jack Black voiced the lead character Po and Korean-American director Jennifer Yuh Nelson helmed the production.
