Boy band returns as trio

Boy band B1A4 unveiled its eighth mini-album, "CONNECT," Monday afternoon, aiming to reconnect with their fans after restructuring.

The latest album holds special significance as it not only marks the end of the group's 26-month hiatus since their last album, "Adore You," in 2021 but also coincides with the completion of the members' military service obligations.

Since its debut in 2011, B1A4 has consistently captivated its youthful fanbase with songs like "What's Happening?" (2013) and "SOLO DAY" (2014).

Originally a quintet, the group underwent restructuring in 2018, thereby transforming into a trio comprising members CNU, Sandeul and Gongchan after two former members opted not to renew their contracts with the agency.

After reforming, Sandeul completed his military duties last year, following CNU in 2020. The youngest member, Gongchan, received an exemption in 2012 after undergoing kidney surgery to address a chronic health condition.

The album features five tracks, including the title song "REWIND," retro-style dance anthem "BACK TO YOU," groovy and exhilarating "PAUSE," heartfelt serenade "WHEN YOU CALL MY NAME" and "STILL IN MY HEART."

CNU's creative influence is evident in composing three of the songs, including the title track, while Sandeul has contributed to two. The final track, "STILL IN MY HEART," is a collaborative effort by all three members.

In an official press release, Tuesday, B1A4 described "CONNECT" as a reflection of their shared experiences and a special gift to their fans.

"As we approach our 13th anniversary, we feel a renewed sense of vitality and closeness. This album serves as a testament to the shared journey, and we've dedicated our utmost efforts to make it a special gift for our fans," they said in the statement.

"We believe there's still much more ahead for us, and it feels like just the start. We hope you'll continue this journey with us."
