For the first time since her debut in 2019, Lia of K-pop girl group ITZY will sing on a track to be featured in MBC's ongoing historical romance series, “The Red Sleeve.”

The JYP Entertainment star is set to drop a ballad tentatively titled, “Light You Like a Star,” on Jan. 3. The song is expected to set a romantic mood for the series that stars Junho of K-pop boy band 2PM and actress Lee Se-young.

Based on the novel of the same name written by Kang Mi-kang, “The Red Sleeve” is a love story of King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) and court lady Sung Deok-im. The 17-part series has had a high viewership, with its latest episode aired on Dec. 25 scoring a 14.3-percent rating nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea. Its final episode will hit the air on Jan. 1.

In addition to Lia, a wave of singers, such as MAMAMOO's Wheein, NU'EST's Minhyun and Jeong Se-woon, have lent their voices for songs in the drama's soundtrack.

Lia debuted as part of K-pop quintet ITZY in 2019 with the tune, "Dalla Dalla." With that song, ITZY, comprising Yeji, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, Yuna and Lia, grabbed the No. 1 spot on a Korean music show only 10 days after the group's debut. Since then, the group, ITZY, has rolled out a string of hits, such as "Icy" (2019) and "Not Shy" (2020).
