K-pop boy band Pentagon of Cube Entertainment released their fourth mini-album “DEMO_01,” proudly introducing as their first album in which they produced all tracks on it themselves.

K-pop groups usually receive tracks from popular music producers and begin to write their own songs only after releasing several studio albums. But Pentagon, which debuted only a year ago, has decided to take a risk by filling the album only with songs its members have composed.

“We are very close to celebrating our first anniversary and we had a goal to write our own single when we debut,” the member Kino said during a press conference at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, eastern Seoul, Wednesday. “For this album, we have participated in all the meetings to share ideas on costumes, album jacket design and our music video concepts. We believe this is already a big achievement.”

The album consists of five tracks including the lead single “Like This,” composed by Flow Blow and group leader Hui.

Hui is a proven music producer as he wrote mega-hit songs like “Never” and “Energetic” for project K-pop act Wanna One which debuted from season 2 of the popular TV series “Produce 101.”

Once again, the singer has produced a trendy tune based on the soft EDM genre that plays a sophisticated sound with a dynamic melody.

“I received more than what I earned with Never and Energetic and I’m trying not to think about ranking of our new single this time. I just hope many people listen to our music and click like for our album on music streaming service platforms like Melon,” Hui said.

“I wrote Like This before when Never and Energetic became so successful, so I did not write the single with a heavy burden on my shoulders. It doesn’t mean I am not feeling any burden at the moment because it was our challenge for both the band and the agency to only fill the album with songs our members composed. We really worked hard on this album.”

Pentagon release their third mini-album only three months ago and the band had no time to rest as they toured Asia.

Member Yeo One said he and the band members were surprised to see so many fans gather for their performances during the concert tour.

“We have visited the biggest number of cities since we debuted and fans told us they have waited long to see us on stage. We thought we should release our next album as soon as possible then. Even if we are not performing here, we are holding concerts in countries like Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, which we think is a big accomplishment,” Yeo One said.
