Every summer, jazz buffs welcome the series of jazz festivals with open arms.
However, flugelhorn player and composer Chuck Mangione is in a league all on his own, with no rival in his immediate sight.
The 67-year-old musician will hold a solo concert at the Concert Hall in the Seoul Arts Center in southern Seoul on Aug. 21.
The upcoming concert will take place three years after Mangione last held solo concerts in 2000, 2001 and 2004. All three dates were sold out performances.
In 2000, he made his first ever appearance in Korea to audiences where his instrumental hit, ``Feels So Good,'' was heating up the airwaves.
Mangione also came to Korea last year to take part in the Summer Jazz Sanitarium 2006, together with other jazz musicians.
Mangione is a world-renowned flugelhorn player. The instrument, made of brass, closely resembles that of a trumpet.
He is widely known to Korean fans for his hits ``Feels So Good,'' ``Chase The Clouds Away,'' and ``Give It All You Got.''
He achieved international success with his jazz-pop single, "Feels So Good" in 1978. He has released more than 30 albums since he first broke out on the scene in the early 1960s.
Mangione's ``Chase the Clouds Away" was used in the 1976 Olympic Games. The track "Give It All You Go'' was the theme to the Winter Olympic Games of 1980, which was held in Lake Placid, New York. He performed live at the closing ceremonies, which were aired around the world.
Recently, smooth jazz stations around the world have recognized Mangione's ``Feels So Good'' as their all-time instrumental number.
Born and raised in New York, Mangione won two Grammy awards from a long list of nominations.
Tickets cost from 30,000 to 100,000 won. For more information, call 1577-5266.
