Actor Song Ji-hyo is returning to the silver screen with the new movie “House of Meeting” (direct translation), taking on her first movie project in over three years since the 2020 mystery thriller film “Intruder.”

The actor’s agency, Nexus ENM, announced that Song has been confirmed for the lead role in the upcoming movie.

“We hope you look forward to Song Ji-hyo's transformation and brand new charms as she will showcase her true colors as a 'trusted actor' in this new project,” the agency stated in the release.

The new movie, scheduled to start filming in January, will follow the story of Tae-jeo, a corrections officer played by Song who has been working in a prison for five years. The story takes an unexpected turn as she encounters the daughter of one of the inmates under her supervision.

This will be the feature-length directorial debut of filmmaker Cha Jung-yoon, known for the 2016 short film “Nagayo.”

“The deep gaze and charming voice of Song, added onto the character, will uniquely bring out the delicate sentiment of the work,” the director said.

Song, who debuted with the 2003 feature film "Wishing Stairs," has starred in various movies and series, including the 2006 hit period series "Jumong" and the 2018 crime film " Unstoppable." She also has been starring in the long-running variety show "Running Man" since 2010.
