Actors Kim Hye-soo and Yoo Yeon-seok will host the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards, scheduled to be held on Nov. 26.

The organizer of the annual movie awards announced the hosts of this year's ceremony, Thursday. The two stars will be the co-hosts for the fourth consecutive awards.

Kim, who has been the host of the awards since 1993, expressed that she is grateful for the film industry surviving through the hard times of the pandemic.

“It still has been a tough year due to the COVID situation. As the pandemic lasted for over a year, there were moments when I was worried if people would stop going to movie theaters, and the industry would never recover to the way it used to be,” the actress said in a statement.

“Despite this hard time, there were films that inspired us, and the audiences who responded to them. I would like to express my appreciation to all of us for striving to get through the desperate time.”

Yoo also shared his thoughts, looking back on the past year. “Even under the difficulties, there has been a lot of good news in the Korean film industry. So, as a person who has a great passion for films, it has been an emotional year,” he said.

“I deeply thank each and every person who made Korean movies shine. And I will do my best to make this awards ceremony a festive celebration for those people.”

Starting in 1963, the Blue Dragon Film Awards, presented by Sports Chosun, has become one of the most prestigious film awards in Korea, recognizing outstanding movies made throughout the year.

For the first time ever, this is the second ceremony of the awards this year since the 41st edition was postponed from last year and was held in February.

This year's ceremony will take place at KBS Hall in Yeouido, western Seoul.
