Comedy film “Extreme Job” has wowed Koreans, selling over 720,000 tickets as of Friday, only two days after its release.

The 111-minute movie is expected to draw even more viewers next week thanks to the Lunar New Year holiday (Feb. 2-6) that generally sees an increase in family moviegoers.

The film revolves around five detectives who handle drug cases. They set up a Korean-style chicken restaurant as part of an undercover investigation that aims to expose a crime ring. But several unexpected incidents happen as their eatery rises to fame.

Ryu Seung-ryong, Lee Ha-nee (Lee Honey,) Jin Seon-kyu, Lee Dong-hwi and Gong Myung star in the movie directed by award-winning filmmaker Lee Byeong-heon.

Ryu, one of the most prominent actors on the comedy scene, said in a recent interview that: “I could draw an overall picture about the movie as soon as I read the scenario ― the film seemed really interesting.”
