Actress Isabelle Huppert coming to Korea

Award-winning French actress Isabelle Huppert is due to visit Korea on May 25 to promote her new film “Copacabana,” the film’s local distributor said Tuesday.

This marks a return after 13 years since she took part in the 1998 Busan (formerly Pusan) International Film Festival.

Known as the heroine of critically acclaimed works such as “The Pianist” and “8 Women,” Huppert has won best actress awards at top international film festivals such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin.

Her upcoming film, slated for release on May 26, portrays an estranged mother and daughter trying to mend their relationship.

She also plans to attend the opening of a photo exhibition featuring her images, as well as hold press meetings and a cinema event with Korean director Lee Chang-dong.

The photo exhibition, to be held at the Museum of Photography, Seoul, will open on May 29. It will display portraits of Huppert by famed photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Richard Frank, Edouard Boubart and Richard Avedon.
