Jeon In-kwon, the lead vocalist of rock band Deulgukwha, has been questioned over allegations of damaging the home of his neighbor by throwing stones at the structure amid an ongoing property dispute.
According to the police, the 66-year-old singer said he threw the stones at the neighbor's building in September because the two had been at odds over Jeon's “right to a view,” after construction began on the neighbor's property to increase the height of the building by one meter. The increased height obstructed the view from Jeon's home in Samcheong-dong, a posh district in northern Seoul.
The neighbor claimed that Jeon threw “giwa,” traditional Korean roof tiles at the house, but Jeon reportedly denied this, saying he simply threw stones.
Police officers are gathering evidence of actual damage. Jeon reportedly said he is planning to file a suit against his neighbor to assert his rights.
Jeon, a legendary rock singer, was born in the house and has lived there his whole life. The singer released his first album in 1985 with the band, and it ranked as the No. 1 album of 1988 among music critics. The band released four albums, while Jeon also released six solo albums and formed the Jeon In-kwon Band in 2014.
