'Music, politics part of my life': France's former first lady

Carla Bruni, a singer-songwriter and the wife of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, said her roles as the spouse of a high-profile politician and as a musician are both part of her life.
"Both situations are part of my life. So there are different situations but it is actually the same life," Bruni said in a recent written interview with Yonhap News Agency ahead of two concerts in South Korea.
The Italian-French musician is scheduled to perform on Nov. 2 at a concert hall at Seoul's Kyunghee University first and at Busan's Bexco Auditorium the next day.
The performances, "The Live Vol. 1: Carla Bruni," are part of Bruni's world tour to promote her album "French Touch." South Korea is the first leg of her Asian tour.
The latest album is a collection of remakes of English-language songs, including "Stand by Your Man" and "Moon River."
The Carla Bruni version of "Stand by Your Man" earned popularity among South Koreans after it was adopted as one of the background songs for JTBC's popular TV drama series, "Something in the Rain."
"I tried to sing it just as if it was my song. I'm thrilled that it was featured in the Korean (drama)," she said. "It's always good for a song to be in a (TV series) because it brings it back into the memory of people."
As a fluent speaker of Italian, French and English herself, Bruni also talked about how it feels to sing in the different languages.
"I believe English (has) very good rhythm and Italian is very good for the sound," she said. "Italian sings even if you read the menu. French is really good because it is a very literal language. ... It's a pleasure to be able to sing in three languages." (Yonhap)
