Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Ok-dong has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to leading financial service innovation, as part of the group’s digital transformation as a future growth strategy to build long-term sustainable services powered by emerging technologies, company officials said Sunday.

The drive was unveiled during Shinhan Financial Group Analyst Day, a key event attended by domestic and global financial analysts on Jeju Island from Thursday through Saturday.

The three-day event was part of the group’s efforts to expand its engagement with investors beyond institutional investors. It was the first financial group in Korea to host an official briefing for retail investors in the April-June period of last year.

In his opening remarks, Jin said digital transformation and changes in the regulatory environment are major trends that redefine the core competitiveness of financial entities.

“Shinhan Financial would take a proactive stance, advancing not only as a resilient player in times of crisis but also as a leader on the global stage,” he said. “We will continue to grow with customers, ensuring Korea’s finance sector remains globally competitive.”

Central to his vision are ERP (enterprise resource planning) banking, stablecoins and artificial intelligence-powered financial agents.

Integrating ERP systems with banking services will enable real-time financial management for corporate clients.

Jin stressed that these are not mere temporary trends, but core engines for reshaping the fundamental nature of finance.

“These technologies enable us to reorient essential financial functions and create new, customer-oriented values,” Jin said. “We are focused on building a sustainable financial ecosystem through practical, creative innovation.”

This year's event was held under a theme centered on a digital paradigm shift and the financial industry’s response, featuring more interactive sessions.

Among attendees were industry experts, including ones from cryptocurrency exchange Korbit.

Topics included global trends in digital asset markets, stablecoin development strategies, ERP banking and regulatory outlooks for the financial sector.

The discussions emphasized the group’s commitment to integrate digital finance into its business model, aligning with both global trends and domestic market needs.
