Shinhan Life Insurance has set up an innovation center to foster an innovative organizational culture, the company said, Tuesday.

The new center, to be under the control of CEO Sung Dae-kyu, will serve as a think tank for promoting idea pitches from employees and providing enhanced “insurtech-based” services to customers, it added.

It has two arms, one focusing on ideas on innovating the company as a whole, and another which will focus on ideas on providing innovative insurtech-based financial services to customers.

The center is located on the same floor of Sung's office, to enable employees to freely communicate and discuss ideas with the CEO.

It has 36 members, 11 of whom are based at the center and 25 who contribute while carrying out other roles at the company.

"We expect the innovation center to become a stepping stone for Shinhan Life to establish an innovative organizational culture and become a leading insurer in insurteh," Sung said.
