Samsung Fire and Marine boasts convenient online system

Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance said Tuesday that its online system offers convenient services to customers, helping them buy policies easily and claim compensation quickly through smartphones and PCs.

The leading non-life insurer said that more and more customers are signing contracts and claiming insurance payments through online platforms. According to data from Samsung Fire and Marine, 11.3 percent of insurance payment claims for the first two months this year were filed online, up from 7.2 percent in 2015.

“We have improved our online system to cope with rising demand for such services. Thanks to the improvements, the number and ratio of insurance payment claims through online platforms, such as smartphones and PCS, are on the rise,” said the company in a statement.

In addition, Samsung Fire and Marine said that it has the nation’s largest infrastructure for auto insurance compensation, offering quick and safe treatment for customers suffering auto accidents. It has 205 compensation centers nationwide with 1,724 employees as of December, according to the insurer.

Thanks to its online system and auto insurance infrastructure, the firm has been given the top A++(Superior) grade from A.M. Best, the world’s largest credit ratings agency for insurers, for the last five years.

The non-life affiliate of Samsung Group also said that cost efficiency is one of the most important factors that consumers should consider before buying an insurance policy.

“Cheap insurance is not necessarily good insurance. An insurance policy can be proven good only after financial protection is provided to the insured,” the company said.

If a customer buys a policy without help from sales staff or planners, the customer must make claims for payment by him or herself. Thus, the insurer said, customers should consider how easily they can access the insurance claim system when they are evaluating a policy’s cost efficiency.
