The Korea Exchange (KRX) said Thursday that it will host a capital market forum next week for foreign companies and institutions in the country, offering an opportunity for executives from non-Korean firms to learn about Korea’s capital markets.
The bourse operator said the forum will highlight how global companies and market players can benefit from a wide range of services provided by the KRX while taking advantage of policies for foreign companies here. The event is scheduled for Oct. 29 at the KRX’s Seoul office in Yeouido.
“We are preparing for the meeting to provide a chance for foreign companies to be introduced to Korean capital markets. With the event, we also aim to exchange business information and get to know each other,” said the KRX in a statement.
The forum will also have a session on the outlook for the global economy and macroeconomic factors, such as interest rates, foreign exchange movement and the effect they will have on foreign firms doing business in Korea, according to the bourse operator.
The event is supported by the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK), the Korea Trade-Investment Agency and the Korea Foreign Company Association.
The event will kick off at 1:30 p.m. with registration and a reception. KRX Chairman & CEO Choi Kyung-soo will give welcoming remarks at 2 p.m., followed by a session on “The Korea Capital Market and KRX: Creating Value for Companies and Investors,” led by KRX Director Chung Young-won.
Park Woong, CEO of Eastspring Asset Management Korea, will give a presentation about the Korean economy called, “Korea’s New Normal ― Implications & Responses. “
KRX Ombudsman Kim In-chul will talk on the topic of the “Foreign Investment Ombudsman,” which will be followed by a question and answer session.
The forum will be held in English. Executives from foreign companies who want to join the event should apply in advance at the KRX’s website (www.krx.co.kr). Executives from foreign institutions, such as law firms, accounting firms, investment banks and global institutional investors, are also welcome.
No fees will be charged for the event with free parking provided. Coffee and other refreshments will be offered for free. Documents related to the forum will be distributed at the event.
