LG CNS has secured two large-scale government projects aimed at modernizing Korea’s military information technology (IT) infrastructure, extending its reach into the country’s defense tech sector.
The company announced it recently signed contracts with the Defense Communication Command (DCC) to integrate communication networks across the armed forces, and with the Defense Computing Information Agency (DCIA) to upgrade systems and infrastructure at defense facilities.
The latest contracts come as the company has demonstrated its technical expertise in previous military projects, successfully delivering key systems such as the Korea Joint Command and Control System, a C4I communications platform for the Army and Air Force, and a next-generation finance system for defense.
“By bringing together our expertise in defense IT, LG CNS will successfully deliver both projects and drive digital innovation across the defense sector,” said Bae Min, the company’s senior vice president of finance and public business division.
Over the next 15 months, DCC’s project will merge the separate networks of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Joint Chiefs of Staff into a unified system, enabling seamless operations across space, maritime and cyber domains.
LG CNS will standardize network configurations across services and establish an integrated network that will streamline data sharing. It will also apply software-defined networking technology to centrally manage routers deployed nationwide, while also strengthening cybersecurity using an artificial intelligence-based security solution to detect suspicious activity in real time.
The DCIA’s project is aimed at modernizing its digital system and infrastructure to enhance the user workflow and standardize data to support all work processes across the entire lifecycle of defense facilities.
LG CNS will integrate a total of 20 internal and external facilities management systems and establish a geospatial information platform for defense agencies to stably utilize spatial datasets such as land and geographical data.
The platform will host comprehensive facility data —from budgeting and project management to asset control — under a single interface.
