NEW YORK — Samsung Electronics took over U.S. digital health care platform Xealth to begin connected care service in the United States, the company said Tuesday (local time).

According to Samsung, it signed an agreement to acquire Xealth, a health care integration platform providing diverse digital health tools and care programs. The company did not provide further details, but said it will finish processes such as regulatory approvals within the year.

Xealth was spun out from Providence's health care system in 2016 and combines multiple digital health solutions into a single user interface and platform, giving health care providers a more comprehensive understanding of patients.

The company currently has a network of more than 500 U.S. hospitals, including Advocate Health and Banner Health, and more than 70 digital health solution partners. They will gain access to Samsung’s platform to help enhance the connected care platform.

The acquisition will accelerate efforts to unify fragmented health care information, measured through wellness tools and clinical records at hospitals. The synergy between Samsung’s wearable devices and Xealth’s digital health platform can create a link between home health monitoring and clinical decision-making through Xealth, the company noted.

Samsung plans to further expand its digital health care ecosystem by connecting it with other home appliances to offer more personalized services.

“Samsung aims to improve the health of everyone through our extensive platform combining Samsung’s innovative technologies and open collaboration with industry leaders,” said Roh Tae-moon, acting head of the Device Experience Division at Samsung Electronics.

“We believe the acquisition of Xealth, with its accumulated expertise and extensive health care network, will be an anchor to accelerate Samsung’s efforts to support health systems and digital health partners through a truly connected care.”

Xealth CEO Mike McSherry said, “We are excited to join forces with Samsung.”

“Customer health data from wearables can fill in context that is missing to hospitals and bring more data analysis possibilities that were not available just with clinical records. Together with Samsung and our network of health care leaders, we will design a bridge between home health monitoring and clinical decision-making.”

In recent months, Samsung has been accelerating its merger and acquisition drive, taking over a series of companies in future growth sectors, including Rainbow Robotics, Oxford Semantic Technologies for artificial intelligence (AI), Sonio for medtech, Masimo’s audio division and Plixt for AI data center cooling.

Samsung is set to hold its Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 event in Brooklyn on Wednesday. Along with the new Galaxy Z series foldable smartphones, the company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which is believed to feature major upgrades in health-related functions.
