Huawei vowed to continue playing a crucial role in Korea’s digitalization and carbon neutrality and make efforts to nurture future ICT professionals, the CEO of its Korean unit said, Wednesday.
“Huawei has been offering innovative products and services for Korean customers over the past 21 years, promoting enhanced efficiency and sustainable development in various industrial fields," Balian Wang, CEO of Huawei Korea, said during a press conference at the Lotte Hotel Seoul.
"In 2024, we will focus on providing more eco-friendly technology solutions to customers to help achieve Korea's digitalization and carbon neutrality goals, and prepare the groundwork for domestic ICT talents to grow into next-generation leaders," the CEO added.
In 2023, Huawei Korea actively contributed to the digital transformation of the industries here, under the vision of building a better eco-friendly digital life with Korea.
Its 5G network, which is also serviced in Korea, was the first to break through an average download speed of 1 gigabit per second in global tests, recording the highest score ever.
In the enterprise business sector, Huawei Korea provided various products, including data center networks, campus networks, mid-range and high-end storage, data protection and optical transport networks. Especially in the manufacturing, finance, education and media industries, Huwaei is recognized by customers and partners for its excellence, the company said.
The company also offers eco-friendly and low-carbon solutions, such as solar inverters, data center energy, power supply and distribution and electric vehicle charging networks.
Huawei Korea’s digital power business has produced eco-friendly electricity amounting to 6.72 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), reducing carbon emissions equivalent to planting 4.12 million trees, according to the company.
"Based on Huawei's technical capabilities and investments in research and development, Huawei Korea builds a leading ICT infrastructure for customers and provides momentum for the digitalization of companies and industries here," the CEO said.
"There has not been a single cyber security incident involving Huawei around the world, including Korea, in the past 30 years," he emphasized, saying, "Huawei will continue to prioritize cyber security over business performance and increase customer trust."
The company has also been working on fostering Korea’s next-generation ICT professionals by operating three talent nurturing programs such as the Seeds for the Future program. Since launching such projects in 2015, Huwaei has shared its ICT technology and knowledge with 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students here.
In the coming year, Huawei Korea said it plans to enhance its presence in AI, 5G and cloud computing to present safer and more innovative products and services and help achieve Korea's digitalization and carbon neutrality goals. It also plans to continue supporting the cultivation of 1,000 next-generation ICT professionals.
"In 2024, every Huawei Korea employee will do his or her utmost to cooperate with Korean customers and partners for a better eco-friendly digital life and provide excellent value to the entire industry," Wang said.
