LG CNS to promote AI robotics biz for logistics

LG CNS is strengthening its robot operation platform business after forging a partnership with China's XYZ Robotics, the Korean company said Monday.
The LG Group affiliate said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with XYZ Robotics, an AI-based robotics solution company, on Sept. 11 as part of efforts to enhance its competitiveness in robot-related industries.
In July, LG CNS introduced a robotics management platform that controls and manage various types of robots at logistics distribution centers. The robot management platform collects and analyzes data from all robots in real time and guides them to perform optimally.
The company added that it signed the partnership with XYZ Robotics, which possesses cutting-edge technology in 3D vision and grippers, which are the hands of robots.
Based on its robotics solutions, XYZ Robotics is developing palletizing robots that pick up various goods at logistics centers and stack them onto cargo carriers, robots that move products loaded on cargo carriers to other places and piece picking robots that pick up goods.
The two companies have begun applying XYZ Robotics' products to domestic e-commerce companies' logistics centers and plan to expand their business scope in the future.
LG CNS added that the time has come for more efficient work in the logistics market using robots based on AI and big data technology.
“The logistics automation market has now entered the robot transformation era, where robots are effectively utilized in all processes in a digital transformation that applies AI and big data,” said Lee Jun-ho, head of the Smart Logistics Division at LG CNS. “LG CNS will continue to enhance its subscription-based integrated robot operation platform to offer more convenient services for enterprise customers.”
