Quest Software, a U.S.-based IT management and security software company, will provide comprehensive solutions in IT system digitization and cloud computing backup for enterprise clients in Korea to help them reduce operational risks, according to the head of its Korean branch, Tuesday.

“Companies face the risk of managing their own data and that of their customers. Managing data is always a risk, so it's as important to a company's operations as increasing revenue and reducing costs. We want to reduce the risk to our customers in this area,” Youn Byung-hoon, country manager of Quest Software Korea, said in a press conference in Seoul.

Established in California in 1987, Quest Software is best known for active directory security and active directory disaster recovery.

Quest Software said an active directory is a type of database and set of services that connects users with the network resources they need to get their work done. It stores information on the network for administrators and users to find and use with ease.

The convenience of this service, often referred to as AD for short, has led many organizations to adopt it, but it also increases the potential for security threats. A cyberattacker can take over an AD and take over a company's internal network.

Youn said Quest Software is the global leader in AD service security and disaster recovery. As a data-specialized company, Quest Software provides risk management solutions for clients' data.

“This year, we will focus on strengthening our solution expertise in Korea and building our customer risk response portfolio,” the country manager said.

He said that customers' risks are diversifying as working environments are going hybrid in the wake of the pandemic.

“The diversification of working environments and terminals, open databases and more use of cloud computing have led to frequent internal and external attacks,” the country manager said. “In such a risky environment, it is important to have business continuity and manage it accordingly. Quest Software Korea separated its internal organization into business units to gain expertise and established a structured partner system to deliver a consistent message through channel marketing.”
