LG Electronics to build 'Hope Village' for vulnerable groups around the world

LG Electronics said Friday it is working on improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups around the world as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.
The tech company, alongside the non-profit Habitat for Humanity Korea, began carrying out Life's Good: Hope Village programs in Kenya, Vietnam, India and other countries this month.
“This program is a part of the LG Come Home Challenge campaign that LG Electronics has carried out globally since September,” the company said, adding that money donated to Habitat for Humanity Korea is used to support the program.
Habitat for Humanity Korea is a non-profit organization devoted to building and improving dwellings for families. With the organization, LG has conducted a campaign to help families with inadequate housing or a lack of housing during the pandemic.
Through the Hope Village program, more than 80 households will be able to have new houses or get home repairs. Water facilities and rest rooms for local communities and education facilities, such as a school library and cafeteria will also be provided.
To help residents who live in public facilities enjoy a better life, LG will supply appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and air purifiers.
LG Electronics also said it will carry out its Hope Village support program for veterans of the Korean War in Ethiopia over the next three years.
To be a more responsible company, LG Electronics and its union have delivered donations and daily necessities to the veterans and their descendants in the African country since 2013. On the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, the company is working on providing better housing and education facilities for them.
The company said it will continue to operate corporate social responsibility programs around the world to help vulnerable groups live in better conditions.
