BARCELONA ― Samsung Electronics unveiled its latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab S3, the first portable device equipped with core audio technologies from its recently acquired auto-parts giant Harman International.

The company launched the 9.7-inch device, Sunday (local time), a day before the beginning of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) here. It features four stereo speakers, providing richer audio backed by sound technologies from Harman’s high-end audio subsidiary ― AKG.

Samsung also said the new audio feature will be added to its upcoming flagship Galaxy smartphone series.

The Galaxy Tab S3 took center stage for the firm’s most important launch, as Samsung delayed the debut of its new flagship smartphone _ the Galaxy S8 ― following a longer-than-expected investigation into the cause of battery fires from Galaxy Note 7 jumbo phones.

During the event, Samsung confirmed the upcoming Galaxy smartphone would debut on Mar. 29 both in New York and London.

“On the Tab S3, AKG will deliver crystal clear sound with an auto-rotate intelligent audio speaker,” said Mark Notton, head of portfolio strategy at Samsung Electronics Europe.

“The Tab S3 sound automatically follows the direction of the screen. This is a tablet that does not need an extra speaker.”

AKG’s high-end earphone will come bundled with the next-generation Galaxy smartphones, the company said.

The Seoul-based tech giant also showcased its new device-connecting software ― Samsung Flow ― enabling Samsung smartphones, tablets and laptops to seamlessly cross-share content such as photos, videos and documents.

The new functionality also allows users to check alarms and respond to text messages on any of their Samsung devices.

Samsung also introduced what it calls a “game launcher” platform, providing a variety of functions for mobile gamers. They include no disturbance while playing games and video-recording game play, according to Samsung Electronics.

The device is equipped with a Qualcomm SnapDragon 820 processor and super AMOLED display. It also features a stunning 6,000 mAh built-in battery.

Samsung Electronics also took the wraps off a series of other electronics devices including a convertible tablet, the Galaxy Book 10.6, the Galaxy Book 12 and its brand-new Gear VR with Controller.

The two-in-one laptops run on the Windows operating system, coming in two different display sizes.

The company also showcased its up-to-date virtual reality device, designed for an interactive motion-recognition gaming experiences.
