Security Platform safeguards devices for IoT

Security Platform has launched hybrid device security firmware that can be integrated into a chipset on internet of things (IoT) devices to deal with growing malware attacks, the Seongnam-based company announced Wednesday.

According to the company, its product suite is comprised of four major parts: a secure operating system (OS), a developer’s kit, a hardware client module and a remote attestation (RA) platform.

“The security of IoT devices has emerged as a new challenge in a range of areas, but there have not been any proper security measures for IoT devices developed thus far,” said Hwang Su-ik, CEO of the company founded in July 2015.

“Existing intelligent security measures are too expensive and heavy security could slow down performance, so the need for inexpensive, light and effective security is on the rise.”

Axio-OS, its secure OS, can implement key protection, authentication and encryption technologies on the hardware chipset level to overcome the physical vulnerability of tiny, lightweight IoT devices.

Axio-builder, the developer’s kit, provides a board with a secure built-in microcontroller and real-time OS (RTOS) as well as a software development kit. It also includes secure boot technology to provide anti-forgery measures against unauthorized access and malware attacks.

Security Platform also provides hardware client module secures sessions to the server directly with its chipset.

Lastly, Axio-RA, the RA platform, integrates all connected things based on trusted computing technology.

“I founded Security Platform to make a trusted and safe IoT world by protecting devices from any intrusion or malware, and the trusted computing technology has proven that a complete security measure can be deliverable even with the typical hardware resource constraints of lightweight IoT devices such as low processing power and limited memory,” Hwang said.
