LG Electronics will unveil new smart home appliances that can automatically learn from users’ patterns and environment at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company said Wednesday.
The nation’s second-largest electronics maker, which has pushed to interconnect its smart home appliances through its “SmartThinQ” technologies, pledged Wednesday to expand the system by introducing “deep learning” technology to the devices.
As one of the core technologies of artificial intelligence, deep learning makes devices like air-conditioners, refrigerators and robot vacuum cleaners “learn” from data collected through sensors and adjust their performance.
“With the deep learning technology, which enables home appliances to understand customers, we will continue to lead the smart home market,” LG Electronics home appliance and air solution business division head Song Dae-hyun said.
LG Electronics said its deep learning-based smart electronic devices will collect data using sensors, accumulate it on cloud networks through Wi-Fi and analyze it automatically.
