Samsung to join Black Friday deals

Samsung Electronics will extend its Black Friday deals and expand the scope of discounts for home appliances.
“Samsung will extend the period of the Samsung Electronics S Gold Rush Family Sale event to December and has decided to expand the number of home appliances to be discounted to 35 from the previous 20,” the company said Friday.
The company said the decision is part of its efforts to back government initiatives to boost local consumption. The government has been seeking support from consumer electronics companies to spark idling consumer demand for devices.
Samsung has included four premium refrigerators for discounts of up to 1 million won during the period. The world’s top TV maker also has included 40-inch, 48-inch and 55-inch televisions in the sale.
Washers, cleaners and notebooks will be sold with 20 percent to 40 percent discounts, the company said.

As the year-end shopping season approaches, Samsung is using the Black Friday event to cut inventories before new product launches next year. “The latest decision will be beneficial both to consumers and the company,” an official said.
Samsung plans to release its 2016 models at next year’s tech fair in Las Vegas. But the Las Vegas fair will not be the venue for its unpacked event to unveil the new Galaxy smartphone. Samsung Electronics hopes to get more attention from the media and industry officials by holding its own event for the new model of its flagship phone.
