Experiencing 2050: transparent airplanes

In the Paris Air Show that took place on June 14, Airbus revealed its research project named “A vision of aviation in 2050.”

The CNN reported a concept design involving a transparent cabin and completely recyclable “self-cleaning materials made from sustainable plant fibers.” The cabin hopes to achieve a plane that will essentially allow its passengers to view up into the dark night sky throughout their travel, the cable TV said.

Other than the transparent design, the cabin is expected to have futuristic technology incorporated into its engineering. Moving beyond the power showers and lounge areas innovated in the recent Airbus A380, the planes of 2050 will have virtual projection screen golf and self molding seats that will adjust itself to its passenger’s body shape.

As Charles Champion, executive vice president of engineering in Airbus, said that the “Passengers of 2050 will [be expected to have] a seamless travel experience.”

Amidst the cynical critics and hopeful supporters, the future of 2050 will come sooner than we may expect.
