Female mummy found in Chinas Jiangsu Province

A mummy of a woman who is believed to have lived during the Ming Dynasty was found at a construction site in Jiangsu Province, China, local media reported Wednesday.

An archaeological team began a probe into three wooden coffins which were discovered two meters underground at the construction site in Taizhou on Feb. 24.

When researchers opened the coffins on March 1, there was the mummy of a woman, which was in comparably intact form, and skin and eyebrows were also in “complete” form, according to the report.

The mummy was 150 centimeters in height.

The woman appeared to have died recently as the eyes, nose and mouth looked intact, while the legs did not seem to have stiffened.

눈썹까지 살아있는 ‘아름다운 미라’ 발견

중국 장쑤성의 한 공사현장에서 명대의 것으로 추정되는 여성의 미라가 발견됐다고 인민일보 인터넷판 등 현지 언론이 2일 보도했다.

24일 타이저우시의 공사현장의 2m 깊이 지하에서 목관 3개가 발견돼 현지 유물조사팀이 조사에 착수했다.

지난 1일, 목관을 열자 안에는 여성의 미라 한 구가 들어있었는데, 이 미라는 머리끝부터 발끝까지 신체기관이 오롯한데다, 피부와 눈썹까지 완벽히 보존돼 있어 학계의 주목을 받고 있다고 이 보도는 전했다.

미이라의 키는 150㎝ 정도.

눈과 코, 입 등도 흐트러지지 않아 막 눈을 감은 사람처럼 보이기에 충분했다. 다리부분도 경직되지 않고 유연성이 남아있는 상태였다.
