Googles new map features mass animal deaths

As large numbers of animal deaths continue to be reported, Google is offering a worldwide map that pinpoints the places where the unexplained phenomenon has occurred.

This new map provides details such as the approximate number of deaths of which animal or bird and links users to specific sites that have more in-depth information.

The majority of the mass deaths seem to be those of birds or sea creatures.

America is confronting mass bird deaths, especially in Louisiana and Arkansas. Sweden reported that 50 jackdaws fell from the sky and Italy discovered 300 pigeons. Meanwhile, bird flu struck Japan, killing 24 birds.

In Brazil, hundreds of tons of dead fish have been washed ashore while hundreds of red snappers turned up dead in New Zealand. Louisiana reported about 100,000 fish died while 150,000 tons of freshwater fish Red Tilapia were found dead in Thailand.

Experts believe a cold wave and the New Year’s eve fireworks may be possible factors causing these mass deaths. The definite cause for each situation, however, is still unknown.
