Doosan Enerbility said Friday it signed a contract to build a combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Misfah, Oman, with a consortium led by Qatar's Nebras Power, in a deal worth approximately 930 billion won ($670 million).

For the project, Doosan Enerbility formed a consortium with SEPCO-3, a power plant construction specialist, to carry out engineering, procurement and construction — a turnkey contract method in which a single contractor handles the full process from design to completion.

Doosan Enerbility will also directly manufacture and supply the plant's core equipment, including the steam turbine and generator.

The Misfah power plant, to be built about 20 kilometers west of Muscat, Oman's capital, will have a generation capacity of 1,700 megawatts and is targeted for completion in April 2029.

Once built, the plant is expected to help meet electricity demand and strengthen power supply stability in the region.

The project owner is a consortium of global developers, including Qatar's Nebras Power, the United Arab Emirates' Emirates Utilities Development Company — a development and investment subsidiary of Etihad Water and Electricity — and Oman's Bahwan Infrastructure Services.

"Our successful project track record and differentiated strategy in nearby Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar led to this win," said Lee Hyun-ho, head of Doosan Enerbility's Plant EPC Business Group.

"We will work with our partners to build a world-class power plant and help stabilize Oman's electricity supply."

Doosan Enerbility has been steadily building a track record in the global gas-fired power plant construction market.

Starting with a peaking unit project in Qatar in February last year, the company went on to sign contracts for the Rumah-1, Nairiyah-1 and PP12 projects in Saudi Arabia the following month.

After winning the roughly 900 billion-won Ohmon-4 project in Vietnam in June last year, Doosan Enerbility has since secured back-to-back contracts for the Duqm and Misfah projects in Oman, cementing its position in the gas-fired power plant market.
