LG Electronics Q2 net income up 28.1% to $542.4 million

LG Electronics on Thursday reported its second-quarter net income of 781.3 billion won ($542.4 million), up a solid 28.1 percent from a year earlier.
The Korean consumer electronics giant said in a regulatory filing that it posted 1.57 trillion won in operating profit for the quarter, compared with 639.4 billion won a year ago. Sales rose 14.9 percent to 23.82 trillion won.
