Hyundai Glovis will establish a finished-vehicle supply chain hub at the Port of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, in a move to create a strategic gateway linking major dealer networks across Europe, the company said Thursday.

The company recently signed an agreement with the Port of Amsterdam to develop a dedicated automotive logistics hub. The signing ceremony was attended by Hyundai Glovis CEO Lee Kyoo-bok and Port of Amsterdam CEO Koen Overtoom.

The agreement enables Hyundai Glovis to develop a vehicle-dedicated terminal spanning approximately 480,000 square meters within the port. The facility will feature berths capable of accommodating up to three pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) simultaneously, vehicle storage yards with a capacity of more than 20,000 units and predelivery inspection facilities.

Rail infrastructure will also be incorporated to support efficient inland transportation throughout Europe.

Operations are scheduled to begin in January 2027 and will be managed by Hyundai Glovis Europe. The Amsterdam project marks the company’s first independently secured finished-vehicle logistics port base in Europe.

The new terminal will allow Hyundai Glovis to provide a one-stop logistics service covering the entire transportation process from maritime shipping to inland distribution. Imported vehicles arriving in Europe will be unloaded, stored and inspected at the port, before being delivered through the company’s inland transport network to dealerships across the region.

For export shipments, Hyundai Glovis will handle the full logistics chain, including inland transportation from vehicle manufacturing plants to Amsterdam, storage at the terminal and subsequent ocean transport to overseas markets.

The company expects the facility to evolve beyond a dedicated PCTC terminal into a key European automotive supply chain hub.

According to projections from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association and Eurostat, Europe’s automotive import and export volume is expected to rise from 10 million vehicles in 2025 to 11.4 million in 2028 and 12.4 million by 2030.

Hyundai Glovis said Amsterdam’s strategic location will enhance its competitiveness in inland transportation. Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg account for roughly 28 percent of Europe’s vehicle demand, making the Dutch port an ideal logistics gateway connecting major consumer markets and dealer networks.

“Amsterdam will serve not merely as a port of call, but as a comprehensive automotive supply chain hub encompassing vehicle storage, inspection and inland distribution,” Hyundai Glovis Europe CEO Lee Sang-jin said. “Through this hub, we will provide customers with more stable, efficient and integrated logistics services across Europe.”
