Dongwon Group founder and Honorary Chairman Kim Jae-chul has released an English version of his autobiography, the company said Thursday.

In his Korean-language autobiography, “Sailing Through Life’s Storms,” published in April, Kim detailed anecdotes from his childhood, how he first started his business and numerous setbacks he had experienced before eventually reaching his current success.

The book also features Kim’s relentless life-or-death challenges as a seaman, as well as his entrepreneurship as a group chairman, the group said in a press release.

“Kim’s success story can be a motivation to many people beyond borders and races,” a Dongwon Group official said.

“This time, he released the English version especially for younger generations not only in Korea but also across the world. He wants more young people to get out of their comfort zone and experience heart-throbbing adventures.”

Kim’s autobiography received attention for his advice to young people as a first-generation chaebol founder, and became one of the country’s bestselling books in the economy and business category within a month of its release.

Some 500 people joined the autobiography’s two publication events at Seoul National University and the Kyobo Book Centre in Gangnam.

After starting his business with a single pelagic fishing vessel, Kim later founded Dongwon Group and Korea Investment Holdings. Dongwon Group is now Korea’s largest fishing company with 18,000 employees.

Do not go gentle into that good night, old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light, though wise men at their end know dark is right, because their words had forked no lightning they, do not go gentle into that good night.
