Hoam Museum of Art attracts 60,000 visitors with special exhibition

A special exhibition on Buddhist art in East Asia, hosted by the Hoam Museum of Art, has attracted over 60,000 visitors, marking it as the world’s first event to display unique artworks focusing on the theme of women, according to Samsung Group. The exhibition, titled "Unsullied, Like a Lotus in Mud," showcases Buddhist art from Korea, Japan and China.
The museum took five years to prepare this large-scale exhibition, which has captivated both local and international art lovers with its display of rare artworks. Since opening on March 27, the exhibition has drawn an average of more than 1,000 visitors daily, reaching a total of 60,000 visitors by the end of May. This number is expected to increase before the exhibition closes in June.
An art expert highlighted the significance of the event, noting, “Masterpieces of Buddhist art are displayed at the exhibition, so this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for visitors to enjoy all of them in one place.”
Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong has visited the exhibition five times with various foreign guests and business partners, emphasizing Samsung’s efforts and contributions to the development of culture and art. The museum was established in 1982 by Lee's grandfather, Lee Byung-chull, the group’s late founder.
