Former Hyundai E&C executive to lead HanmiGlobal's North American operations

HanmiGlobal appointed former Hyundai Engineering & Construction (E&C) Senior Vice President Kim Yong-sik as the head of its business in North America, the Korean construction project management firm said Tuesday.
His appointment is intended for HanmiGlobal's further expansion in the region.
Born in 1964, Kim earned a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from Seoul National University in 1986 and a master's degree in real estate science from the National University of Singapore in 2006.
He worked for Hyundai E&C for 36 years from 1986 to 2022, playing major roles for the builder to win overseas construction orders, including the projects to build the National Museum of Qatar and the Middle Eastern country's Hamad Medical City, as well as Singapore's Marina One complex and an international airport in Peru.
“Due to the U.S. government's recent large-scale infrastructure investments and reshoring policies, the North American construction market has grown rapidly,” a HanmiGlobal official said. “Through the appointment of Kim, we will expand our presence in North America and solidify our status as a global project management company.”
As Korea's leading project management firm, HanmiGlobal entered 60 countries and managed over 2,900 projects here and overseas.
In 2022, it established HanmiGlobal USA for its business in North America.
The Korean company also has three additional subsidiaries in the U.S., as it acquired the U.S. engineering firm Otak in 2011, the U.S. construction project management firm DayCPM in 2017 and another U.S. project management firm Tarr Whitman Group (TWG) in 2021.
